DC-Air4 | True Wireless Direct-Conversion Intraoral X-Ray Sensor

What Is Your Sensor Actually Capturing?

An X-ray can look good on the screen.

But how the sensor captures that image starts before you ever see it.

DC-Air4 uses direct-conversion technology, converting X-rays directly into electronic signals.

It also removes the sensor cable from positioning and image acquisition with true wireless Bluetooth Low Energy technology.

Two differences worth seeing for yourself:

Direct-conversion image quality.

True wireless sensor design.

HOW THE IMAGE BEGINS

Not Every Digital Sensor Captures an X-Ray the Same Way

There are two different approaches to converting X-ray energy into the digital image you see.

CONVENTIONAL INDIRECT CONVERSION

X-RAY → VISIBLE LIGHT → ELECTRONIC SIGNAL → IMAGE

A conventional indirect-conversion sensor uses a scintillator to convert X-rays into visible light before the electronic image signal is created.

DC-AIR4 DIRECT CONVERSION

X-RAY → ELECTRONIC SIGNAL → IMAGE

DC-Air4 converts X-rays directly into electronic signals without the conventional scintillator and fiber-optic conversion layers.

That is the fundamental difference in the imaging architecture.

WHAT DIRECT CONVERSION MEANS FOR THE IMAGE

Start With What the Sensor Captures

The different capture architecture is the foundation of the DC-Air4 image-quality story.

Direct-conversion technology is designed to:

Create more detailed radiographs

Provide better clarity

Enhance fine-detail visibility

Reduce image noise

The point is not to convince you that the X-rays you use today are bad.

You may already like them.

The better question is whether there is something worth comparing.

See what happens when you magnify the image.

TRUE WIRELESS + THE SENSOR CABLE

The Most Common Failure Point Is the Part DC-Air4 Doesn't Have.

The sensor cable.

In traditional wired sensors, the cable is the most common failure point.

No sensor cable to wear, flex or break.

True wireless Bluetooth Low Energy transfers clinical images wirelessly to the receiver connected to the PC.

One less cable between the sensor and the image.

ZOOM + MTF

What Happens When You Zoom In?

MAGNIFIED VIEW

See what happens when you magnify the image.

A radiograph deserves to be looked at closely.

Magnification gives you another way to evaluate the image for yourself.

WHAT IS MTF?

MTF stands for Modulation Transfer Function.

MTF is one objective measure used to evaluate image resolution. It describes an imaging system’s spatial-frequency response and sharpness at a given spatial frequency. MTF also accounts for image detail and contrast across a range of spatial frequencies.

>40%

MTF is not the entire image-quality conversation.

The image still deserves to be seen and evaluated for itself.

INDEPENDENT DC-AIR EVALUATIONS

Independent Evidence, Kept in Context

Earlier generations of DC-Air have been independently evaluated. Those evaluations are useful evidence about the DC-Air platform, but they are not direct testing of the current DC-Air4 generation.

2022

CLINICIANS REPORT

EARLIER-GENERATION DC-AIR

Clinicians Report documented sharp, detailed image quality in its evaluation of DC-Air.

Its evaluators also reported greater clarity and detail than systems previously evaluated, especially when magnified.
